Isabelle_Mark picI had the pleasure to meet and interview Isabelle while attending a wine dinner at Vertical Detroit with our friends Woodberry Wine. Isabelle Pangault is the new winemaker and brand ambassador at Les Vignobles Foncalieu. Les Vignobles Foncalieu, a co-operative of 1200 winegrowers that spans several regions of Southern France: Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence, Gascony, and the Rhone Valley.

Isabelle, a native of the Loire valley, became involved in the wine sector through barrel-making. The daughter of an oak sawyer, she was initially interested in the wood industry and studied forestry management, but eventually found her true passion lay in winemaking during a tasting with her father, which demonstrated the impact of French oak from different forests on the wine aging process.

Les Vignobles Foncalieu is one big family, together they stand strong, a tight-knit group of men and women resolutely focused on the future and open to the world.

Landuedoc is the world’s oldest and biggest wine region and is also a land of culture, art and gastronomy, blessed with mild winters and warm summers. Check out the wines here.

Gascony runs from the foothills of the Pyrenees to the Atlantic coast, the region traditionally known as Gascony is home to fresh, vibrant wines. Check out the wines here.

Rhone is France’s second largest wine region, the Rhône Valley is the land of the famous Mistral breeze. On the banks of the great river, winding its way towards the Mediterranean, vines imbued with the distinctive character of the garrigue produce wines of exceptional quality. Our ancestors have been producing wine here since ancient times. Check out the wines here.
