Winery: Trump Winery
Review: This was an amazing Chardonnay that boasts an attractive light yellow-green color and vibrant pear and lemon aromas.
When we spoke with Kerry H. Woolard, General Manager at Trump Winery, she told us that their Chardonnay is hand-harvested early in the morning and whole cluster pressed. The juice is cold settled then fermented in stainless steel tanks.
She told us that their aging process occurs 90% in stainless steel and 10% in French oak barrels.
KERRY WOOLARD, GENERAL MANAGER
Kerry is responsible for overseeing all operations for the 1,300 acre estate. She has 15 years of winery management experience, is WSET Level 2 certified with distinction and has contributed to wine columns for the Wine Gazette and USAToday. She serves on the board of the Jefferson Wine and Grape Growers Society, served on various committees with the Virginia Wineries Association, and served on the Marketing Committee for the Wine Board. Kerry is a graduate of the College of William and Mary where she studied Chemistry and Economics.
JONATHAN WHEELER, WINEMAKER
Jonathan Wheeler has been with the estate since 2006 and leads the wine program. Jonathan draws on experience gained from working as a winemaker in Sonoma and Monterey California, Marlborough New Zealand, and his home in the Finger Lakes of New York. A New York native, Jonathan holds a B.A. in Chemistry from State University of New York at Oswego.
