Featured Interview: David Castrucci

In 1998 we moved our family from New England to the San Francisco Bay Area and early on we began to discover the wonders and beauty of the Napa Valley. Through the years we became increasingly interested and passionate about the wonderful wines and wine business in Napa.
In 2011 we purchased a vineyard property, Castrucci Vineyards, in Napa and began our new venture by selling fruit from our property to local wineries. Based on the positive feedback we received on the quality of the fruit, we decided to begin making wine in 2013. When introduced to our eventual winemaker, Steve Matthaisson, it immediately became clear to us the he shared some of the same feelings and thoughts about wine that we did and he was excited to take on our project.
Our first Castrucci Wines harvest took place during the fall of 2013 and we are thrilled to be releasing our first wines later this year. The fruit for the Rose came from the Giovanonni Vineyard in Carneros. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir came from our own vineyard in Napa, and the Cabernet Savignon was sourced from the “Dead Fred” Vineyard in Coombsville.
Ultimately we are excited to be combining great fruit with the skills of a very talented winemaker, with the ultimate goal of producing outstanding wines we can be proud of.
