Peccavi_Shiraz_2_51f5fbfa5d1d4Tasting Notes

Matured for 14 months in French oak barriques, 40% new. 100% Shiraz. A solid expression of the variety from a warm year. Big red purple colour and rich aromatic fruit. The palate is powerful and ripe with sustained flavour and impression. Time will see the wine come fully forward as there are plenty of tannins to see the wine develop

Jeremy Muller was introduced to the great wines of the world by his father when he was young, and says he spent years searching New and Old World wine regions (even looking at the sites of ancient Roman vineyards in England), but did not find what he was looking for until one holiday in Margaret River. There he found a vineyard in Yallingup that was available for sale, and he did not hesitate. He quickly put together an impressive contract winemaking team, and appointed Colin Bell as viticulturist. The wines are released under two labels: Peccavi, for 100% estate-grown fruit (all hand-picked) and No Regrets, for wines with contract-grown grapes and estate material. The quality of the wines is very good, reflecting the skills and experience of Brian Fletcher. Exports to the UK, Germany, Denmark, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and China.

vineyard pic_piccaviPeccavi Estate is a small family vineyard located in the “sweet spot” sub-region of Yallingup in the north of the Margaret River region. Their vineyard thrives in an ideal, balanced maritime climate where winds from Antarctica carry the purest rainfall to feed the vines in the winter and cooling sea breezes from the Indian Ocean moderate the long dry summer days.

To achieve my vision it was apparent that I would require the services of an internationally recognised, consulting winemaker. Following a lengthy search, it was a fortunate day when I was introduced to Brian, who agreed to join the team.

Brian Fletcher is one of Margaret River’s most prominent winemakers. His wealth of experience spans over 20 years in both New and Old World wine regions. Some of his many positions include Production Director for Casa Vinicola Calatrasi in Sicily, Chief Winemaker with Evans & Tate and Group White Winemaker at B. Seppelt & Sons, Southcorp. Today Brian lectures at Curtin University, is a consultant with the European Wine Academy and is regularly invited to judge at industry shows in and beyond Australia.

Amanda Kramer worked extensively in the Napa Valley, the Alentejo and Margaret River. She was winner of the 2005 Young Australian Winemaker of the Year award and her work reflects the philosophy of Peccavi Wines: striving for the very best, allowing nothing to come between us and our goal of world class wines.

Bruce Dukes has eighteen years of industry experience, shared between iconic producers; Niebaum-Coppola Winery in the Napa Valley & Pierro in Margaret River where he was GM & Winemaker. His approach to grape growing and winemaking has been shaped by a wide range of high quality industry experience, in conjunction with a degree in Agricultural Science from The University of Western Australia, and a Masters degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of California, Davis.
